Welcome

Dear Friends,

Isaiah T. Creswell Arts Magnet Middle School is unique in being the only arts magnet middle school in the Metropolitan Nashville Public School system. The School is located off Clarksville Highway in the Bordeaux area of North Nashville just north of the Cumberland River. I.T. Creswell is within a short driving distance of Metro Center, Fisk University, Tennessee State University and Meharry Medical College.

Opened in Fall 2006, the new facility serves a diverse population of middle-school aged students grades 5-8 from across Nashville, including many students who will go on to attend Nashville School of the Arts for high school.
Creswell Arts is a Title 1 school with 516 students. Approximately 57% of our students are on free and reduced lunch. Our student body is selected through an application and lottery process. In addition to high standards in the academics, we offer a wide and varied selection of Arts courses which include Dance, Drama, Visual Arts, General Music, Music Appreciation, Musical Theatre, Computer, Speech, Art Appreciation, Creative Writing, Reader’s Theatre, Playwriting, Chorus, Paintworks, Photography, Keyboard, Strings and Band.

I.T. Creswell has earned the attention of the local community and was recently awarded grants from VH-1 for a piano keyboard lab and from the Country Music Association (CMA) for both musical instruments and our theater sound system. We are proud to have our school theater named in honor of Nashville’s own Mayor Bill Purcell for his contributions to education and Music City, U.S.A.

We invite you to experience the synergy and the energy of the Arts and Academics in action at Creswell Arts Magnet Middle School.

Sincerely,

Dr. Dorothy Gunn. Principal
Mrs. Kisha Cox, Assistant Principal
